What A Man!
We continue from where we left off in part one. Here is a link for those who might have missed it. Tap to read: Who’s That Guy?
6. Valentine’s Day: I got a phone call the day before Valentine’s Day in 2021. It was Brandon, asking if I had anything planned. I didn’t, and I told him as much.
The following day, he came with Takeaway food from the Food Hub and presented me with a cute gift. Imagine my supervise, especially when I thought I’d spend the day sleeping. That day was special in so many ways, but the most significant was the fact that Brandon was the first guy to give me my first Valentine’s gift.
7. Graduation Dinner: On the day we graduated, Brandon took me and a few others out. Among them were his aunt, cousin, landlord and boss.
During the dinner, it appeared like I was the guest of honor. Somehow everyone knew me, yet I didn’t know them. Apparently, Brandon had told them about how instrumental I had been and how I had helped him get through school. His aunt and several others present that day thanked me for loving him.
Later after my speech in which I mentioned a few things that he had done for me, Brandon stood up and said that none of the things I had mentioned, equated to what I had done for him. Long story short, Brandon covered the bill that night and it was 800,000 shillings. When he saw my concern, he just laughed and said that it was little money.
8. Shifting: On the day that I shifted, Brandon offered voluntarily to help me pack. But oh the sorrow he had!
About a week or two later, he was predictably the first person to visit me at my new place of residence. I cooked for him and later as we ate, we talked.
My former place of residence was a room on the second floor, and it’s window had a view of the main road. Brandon told me how sorrowful it was for him to walk by that building; and how painful it was for him to look up at my former room, knowing that I did not stay there anymore.
Just then, he paused, and with deep sorrow, he looked at me and said: “Have you ever missed someone that was just in front of you? Because I miss you soo much, even when you are sitting right in front of me”.
That evening, he asked so many questions about the place, how much I paid for rent, and if there was a vacant room. It was obvious he wanted to shift to where I was. All the rooms were occupied, for which I was grateful. Afterall, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
9. Photoshoot: He paid for my graduation photoshoot. To this day, I have cute photos from my graduation only because Brandon made it possible.
10. Cooking: At my former workplace, lunch was scrapped off the budget during Covid-19. Those were hard and difficult times for everyone. I had to walk to and from work daily. Food was very expensive in town, and so I had to either cook and pack something from home, or spend the day hungry. Brandon got to know about it, and he reacted in a very sweet and thoughtful manner.
One afternoon, he called me at work and asked if he could cook for me. I was dumbfounded. What a guy! I walked back that evening then went to his place. I was a few hours late, but even then, he waited and didn’t eat until when I showed up. I was amazed that he had waited, even when he was ravenous.
I had eaten his food before, and granted, Brandon was not the world’s best cook, but that day, he really did an excellent job. The food was extremely good.
Brandon used to tell me not to mind his cooking, and that his mom would cook for me better food if I ever visited Rwanda.
Well, I still have something to look forward to, don’t I?
The End!

Actions speak louder than words😊
They do, but timing is also very important in these things.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
“For God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” (Ephesians 3:20)
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
Please look for Brandon ASAP.
Yeah all men aren’t the same. Some are genuine friends.
So women are now running after men?😅
Anyway, jokes aside, I left this whole matter in God’s hands. At the end of the day, God knows best.
It’s a truth hard to take in when you look back and realise that you have no idea where all the people you cared for and loved the most are. The people that cared and looked out for you.
One thing I’m learning to do is to live in the moment. Enjoy it like it will never come back because the truth is, some seasons never return. And like one famous writer said, “it’s a hard and sad truth that life goes on”
But I do pray you meet that special person that you won’t ever have to let go.
Pardon me for writing another story in yours.
😅😅😅
I don’t mind, you can write as many stories as you wish.
This is deep: “Live in the moment, some seasons never return”.
Thank you Nat for your wise words.
