Wait, he said what?

Sep 28, 2024

On Monday, August 12, 2024, Alvin texted me. He introduced himself, gave some details of how we met and wondered whether I still remembered him. Of course I did. We chatted a bit like casual friends and called it a night. The following day, we talked a bit more. On Wednesday, he just wished me a good morning. On Thursday of that same week, I got a text from Alvin’s cousin.

Tamar: So I gave my cousin Alvin your number…I talked to him on monday. He asked about you and your stories. I told him you have a website. Let me send him the link to echoes over coffee. Goodnight ๐Ÿ˜ด

Me: Yeah, he texted me and said hi.

A month passed and Alvin called. When I saw the missed call, I texted him. I was busy with work and he was watching a series on Netflix. We said good night, and hoped to catch up another time.

Three days later, on Thursday, September 12, was my birthday. Alvin texted me and wished me a wonderful day. That week on Sunday, he texted and asked if I had gone to church. From there, the conversation continued; I asked why he had really gotten in touch.

Alvin: Yeah just here remembering the first day we met and all the things that followed thereafter

Me: Naye Alvin. Nothing happened between us. I was a damsel in distress. I needed help, and you offered.

Alvin: All the little that happened happened. Thatโ€™s all.

Alvin: …here thinking you hadnโ€™t found me in my little square place.

Me: Little square place?

Alvin: Am looking around me and say Iโ€™ve come from far.

Me: So in brief, you’re simply bragging about staying in a better place.

Alvin: Go away no dear๐Ÿ˜‚ Anyway if you want a teasy and touchy experience you can hit me up at this new place.

Me: Thank you for the generous offer but I will pass. I’m counting on the husband God gives me, to be the one to give me the teasy and touchy experiencesโ˜บ๏ธ

Alvin: It was not generous per say, it was limited only for like today and forever ๐Ÿ˜‚ Sometimes there are hot moments when you really need it, and someone can come through for you.

Me: I understand. But unfortunately I’m not in that line of trade๐Ÿ˜… (If only he knew that I get paid to be like Jesus!)

Alvin: I know. I hope I wonโ€™t tempt you visually. Itโ€™s a soft way of forcing you want it.

Me: Alvin….. please stop.

Alvin: I have not done anything.

Me: Don’t text me those things. Let’s keep healthy boundaries.

Alvin: Anyway I will just leave that card to you, if itโ€™s to the line you still can play it! No further crossing that boundary.

Me: Again, thank you but nah.

Alvin: I get you … ๐Ÿค—(He inserted my sur name, which I have removed)

Alvin: Iโ€™d want to send you lunch. Here eating.

Me: I’ve already eaten, thank you.

Alvin: Nice ๐Ÿ˜Š

Me: heneway, if you know of someone that is a serious Christian, looking for a serious relationship that can potentially lead to marriage, give them my number. Preferably 31-35 years of age. We go like that ๐Ÿค

Alvin: Send me your picture as well, I make the kalango well

Me: ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

Alvin: ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

Me: Tosinika binnyo (As if he wanted to post me on abanoonya!๐Ÿ˜…)

We made jokes about dating, where to find the right person etc….

Alvin: You need to pray about it. Ask God to show you a sign. Just like he did for Gideon. And may he open your eyes and heart to know this is the time.

Me: Lol….you really are a church boy๐Ÿ˜…

Alvin: First thing to do is prayer, then listen to God.

Hmmm, men! As I have gotten older, I have learned to take a breather. Not so long ago, I would have been offended by Alvin’s suggestions and I would have given him a piece of my mind. But this time around, I just laughed it off, and even joked along. Rather than attack, I always try to imagine a life where we are just friends. This is certainly the definition of maturity.ย

The end.

  • Maturity indeed

    • This is a small world. I have learned that I need everyone. One time I might be stuck in town and Alvin is the only one that can help.

Men can be loyal friends, so it’s a win for me if I can win Alvin over as a pal. Or a bro, as the common expression is.

  • (If only he knew that I get paid to be like Jesus!) Hhhhmmmm
This is when your stand, faith and integrity actually gets tested. From someone un expected. Not related to your work. When you actually think no one will know and then, boom..!!!This guy takes you on a rollercoaster and we see your touchy actions in the news on social media. And just like that, you lose everything. You feel betrayed and deeply sorrowful. It’s a good thing to maintain a straight forward stand with such people.
Thanks for sharing. It’s an amazing lesson.

    • Surely, the devil is a liar!๐Ÿ˜…
When I started this job, I made a vow to God that I wouldn’t compromise in the least. I even had to ban country music and other ‘innocent’ songs which I loved.

Now you find this guy making me an offer, “Hey dear, wanna be a part-time whore?”๐Ÿ˜…
